Three Words

-If you set goals and go after them with all the determination you can muster,your gifts will take you -places that will amaze you

It's no news that YOU have the power to do whatever you want if you set your mind to it. Our minds are the greatest tools we posses, not our bodies, they may fail us, not who we know, they may abandon us but our MINDS, oh our minds! they're so powerful. However, there is a downside. The same way we learned to walk by being consistent, we also need to train our minds less we live a life and never really experience it's full potential. Sadly 'training your mind' is not a class included in our college curriculum :/.

Would you rather try and fail or live a life constantly wondering what it would have been like to dream bold? If you relate to the former you might as well stop reading here. The only dreamers I like are those like Joseph who dream and then go on to conquer. To train the mind you need to set clear expectations for yourself (GOALS) and not just I want to loose weight this year more like I'll loose 10lbs by May 15th. Be bold, intentional and write it down. Back up your words with actions and then it becomes a good habit- that's your mind doing it's thing. I'll tell you this, maybe just maybe you don't achieve all your goals now or this year, but you never achieve the goals you don't set.

                             -What the mind can conceive the body can achieve-

Don't let things happen, Make things happen. Live by design not by default. You already have authority over your own life given to you by Christ, you just have to own up and take control. There are a number of people today who the odds did not favor, the numbers didn't add up, the bad days outweighed the good days but somehow, they still dreamed, they still set goals and not just yearly goals, life goals and they made it. They became the driver in their own lives and trusted their minds. We're quick to overestimate what we can do in a year and underestimate what can be done in five. Tomorrow will probably take care of itself but it'll be a whole lot better if you were prepared for it. I see you thinking about those goals and maybe like me it's all about you (for now) but life is about service. We make a living by what we get and we make a life by what we give (The Prayer circle by Mark Batterson). So volunteer your time to those who need it, you never know where your blessings will come from. Remember nothing is set in stone, as we grow older other things become important to us and our goals change but if you truly think about it they only take different narratives and address a larger scope.

I shared tips on how to go about setting goals here but let's take a step back and make it even simpler. Think about these questions for a minute;

  1. What do you seek in life?
  2. What do you do and who do you do it for?
  3. What do you do better than most?
  4. How do you want to be remembered?
The first question brings to light your purpose - also known as life goal, the second is about service-including others in our goals, the third is your bragging point- we're all unique and have our thing and the last question is our legacy- what we leave behind.

I know I said it was simple but here's the simple part I promise. Having done this now, come up with Three Words that sum these up for you. Three words that will help you draw out your goals, refer to them as categories if you wish but these three words will be your mantra. I'll go first - Live-Laugh-Inspire. I want to be remembered as the woman who lived her life till her tank was on E and she still said I know my life, I have more to give. One who laughed at every chance she got and by so doing inspired others by simply being her.

Once you have your three words, I implore you to not just write them down, or say them but also to live them. The life you're searching for is already yours.

Namaste!
